Why most outplacement disappoints – and why companies switch providers
Many outplacement programs offer access to a platform, a library of videos, and standard templates. Employees are expected to figure out how to translate their careers into strong materials on their own.
That is the number one complaint we hear from professionals who already received outplacement elsewhere:
They were given information, but not real help. They did most of the work alone. The experience felt generic. And when they did not get traction, they paid out of pocket to get it done right.
Executive Waypoint is different by design. We do not offer self-guided outplacement. Every program includes live instruction and hands-on support that ensures employees leave with stronger materials and a practical plan to execute their search.
A higher-value severance experience – and a brand protection decision
Outplacement is more than a benefit. It is a visible extension of how your company leads through change. When included as a high-value component of a severance package, quality outplacement helps protect brand reputation during a vulnerable moment, mitigates avoidable risk, reduces hidden downstream costs, and reinforces a culture of professionalism and respect – even in hard seasons.
High-quality outplacement combines flexibility, availability, and empathetic coaching – not just content. That is what helps individuals make successful transitions, strengthen confidence, and move forward with clarity.
Built for every level – with executive-caliber support when it matters most
Outplacement needs differ across individual contributors, managers, and executives. We support all levels – and we also offer an executive-caliber experience for senior leaders and high-visibility roles where positioning, confidentiality, and polish matter most.
This is outplacement that reflects leadership standards, not a one-size-fits-all process.
Program Format Options
Executive Waypoint can be delivered as:
- Group + 1×1
- Custom 1×1 White Glove Experience
- Mixed cohorts (some participants receive the group + 1×1 experience while others receive White Glove 1×1 support, based on level, role, and company preference)
We build the model around your population, goals, and timeline – without compromising quality.
Two Program Options – No Self-guided Track
You have two ways to provide outcomes. Both include live support, real deliverables, and job search strategy.
Option A: Group + 1×1 Experience
Best for organizations that want strong support at scale, with individualized feedback built in.
Participants learn how to strengthen positioning and prove value – with structured guidance that helps them present the right wins, scope, and leadership story for their next role. We begin with onboarding and live group workshops that surface the story that matters most for their target roles, then participants update their resume and LinkedIn using our frameworks.
From there, we schedule live 1×1 critique sessions to provide direct feedback and edits against our gold standard, followed by a final wrap-up group session focused on job search strategy and execution – so they know exactly how to use their materials to create traction.
Includes
- Live onboarding workshop
- Live resume and LinkedIn workshop(s)
- Individual 30-minute 1×1 critique session(s) with direct feedback and edits
- Wrap-up group session on job search strategy and execution
- Optional add-ons (see below)
Option B: 1×1 White-Glove Partnership
Best for executives, senior leaders, and employees who need a fully customized experience with maximum time savings.
Employees receive multiple 1-hour individualized coaching and strategy support sessions so they can communicate their value clearly and move through interviews with confidence – plus fully rewritten and revised materials aligned to their goals.
This option is ideal when the stakes are higher for executives or the company wants a premium experience for select individuals.
Includes
- Multiple 1-hour 1×1 sessions, conversation-driven intake and strategy
- Fully rewritten resume, LinkedIn, executive bio, cover letter, and other materials
- Review and refinement cycles
- Job search strategy guidance aligned to target roles
- Optional add-ons (see below)
Optional add-ons
Companies can add additional services by population, level, or individual need.
Optional add-ons include
- Cover letters
- Follow-up letters after interviews
- Executive bios
- Project and career highlights
- Company, recruiter, and network outreach letters and messaging
- Additional interview coaching
- Smart Digital Tools: If you want to expand what you provide to your outplaced employees, we also offer optional software and AI solutions that can help employees draft and accelerate key job-search communications, such as cover letters, interview follow-up letters, executive bios, project and career highlights, and targeted outreach messaging to companies, recruiters, and networks.
These tools are designed to increase productivity and help employees expand beyond job boards, while keeping your costs down – ensuring your employees still receive real coaching, guidance, and high-quality materials.

Our Process
A clear structure helps transitions run smoothly for leadership, HR, and participants – while still allowing flexibility based on your employees, timeline, and goals.
Confidentiality and Professionalism
We treat participant information as confidential and can align to your company’s communication protocols. Our goal is a respectful, structured experience that supports individuals with dignity while protecting your brand.
We also recognize that providing high-touch outplacement is not the norm for most companies. We make that clear throughout the program – protecting your brand and company reputation, recognizing that this level of support they are receiving reflects your respect for the work they contributed, and an intentional investment by your company to help people move forward, prepared, and confident. That message is woven into how we open the engagement, and facilitate sessions, so participants understand they are being supported by you, through us.
Frequently Asked Questions
What Our Past Clients Have Said About Us…
“…a different caliber of outplacement support when it mattered most.”
Executive Waypoint brought a level of care, personalization, and professionalism that stood apart from other resources we considered. Our employees were not handed generic tools and left on their own – they received real guidance, one-on-one support, and a process that helped them move forward with greater confidence and dignity. I would highly recommend Executive Waypoint to any company navigating layoffs and wanting to support employees in a thoughtful, effective way.
“…they helped us support people the right way while protecting the integrity of our organization.”
What stood out was how thoughtfully the program was handled from start to finish. The support was personal, highly engaged, and clearly built to help departing employees gain traction quickly, while reinforcing that the company was making a meaningful investment in their next chapter.
“…refreshing to find an outplacement partner that feels truly human and highly effective.”
This was not a generic, self-guided experience. Each participant received tailored support, practical coaching, and strong tools that helped them regain momentum quickly and gave our leadership team confidence that they were in the best hands possible.
“…the participant feedback made it clear we chose the right partner.”
We heard repeatedly that people felt supported, respected, and far better prepared to move forward than they expected. This was not a check-the-box service – it was a meaningful investment in helping our team leave with stronger footing and a real sense that the company cared about what came next for them.
“…a strong reflection of how seriously we took the transition for our people.”
The value went far beyond updated materials. Participants received real coaching, interview preparation, and personalized guidance that helped them feel less overwhelmed and more equipped to take the next step, while reinforcing that the company was making a meaningful investment in their future.
“…they handled a hard season with the right mix of professionalism, empathy, and results.”
It mattered to us that people were treated with dignity and supported in a way that felt real, not performative. Executive Waypoint delivered a high-touch, highly personalized program that reflected well on our company while giving departing team members real support. I would absolutely recommend Executive Waypoint to leadership teams looking for an outplacement partner that does both.
“…far more effective and empowering than the outplacement I had experienced before.”
I had been through another outplacement program in the past, and it was mostly videos, templates, and self-implementation. This was entirely different. The hybrid group workshop plus one-on-one support helped me strengthen my LinkedIn and resume quickly and land two offers within four weeks.
“…this felt personal, high-touch, and immediately useful in a way most programs do not.”
What stood out was that I was not left to figure it out on my own. The combination of group support and individual coaching made the process feel much more tailored, and the guidance helped me regain confidence and traction far sooner than I expected.
